Irish Tacos of a Tuesday

Tá roinnt rudaí riamh athrú
(Some things never change)

Room key or lights? Room key or lights?  No key in the slot by your door means no lights, and in fact no electricity at all to your room. Want to charge your cellphone? You've got to leave a room key behind.

Add to that, the only wi-fi connection this week has been/will be from the hotel's reception lobby. So here I am propped up on the lobby couch punching out a blog post. Maybe the hotel in Kinsale will have reliable wi-fi?

Johnny and April, here's one for you. We came across this taco cart last night just off Grafton Street near Trinity College. Taco Tuzday in Dublin Ireland! Who'da guessed. Uh, we had pasta for dinner.

Well, that was Tuesday. I'll prop up Wednesday's post in a minute too.

  1. Nice clear photo. It's nice having a technical writer describing his trip to Ireland! That's a cute little trick to play on your guests at the hotel, not very convenient, but admirably thrifty of them, it seems to me. I liked the part about "having a gr8t time. That's what we like to hear! Have you seen Lucille yet?

  2. Howdy Mike & Kate,
The no-electricity-unless-a-key-is-in-the-slot is a pretty standard feature of European hotels. You would not believe what fuel costs are there -- $10/gallon is not uncommon.
    How were the tacos?

  3. The 'lights out when you're out' logic makes sense to me, although I can see how inconvenient that might be for those of us who need to recharge. I guess you just have to make a habit of plugging everything in at night, all night. I'm sort of surprised by all the technical challenges Dublin seems to have, since, only about a decade ago, it was hailed as one of the most "attractive-to-techies" cities in all of greater Europe. Curious about the umami of the tacos - cabbage and corned beef an option? :^)
